About
Hi! I’m Kara Brodgesell – mother of two, photographer, and founder of Elm Place.
When I became a mom five years ago, I found myself noticing all of the things that I wish existed – for myself as a parent and to share with my kids. And so two kids, one pandemic, and lots of soul-searching later, Elm Place was born!
We want to create and curate things that appeal to kids and their grown ups. We’ve started with our podcast Tree House Together and are looking forward to branching out from there.
Elm Place is a family affair
Elm Place was the name of the street I grew up on as a young child and has always been associated with a place of wonder, curiosity, and adventure.
Among the reasons that Elm Place was so magical is the care and imagination that my mom Jean put into making our home there. When I was 10, she went back to school to train to be a Montessori preschool teacher and followed that passion for 20 years. She’s the perfect partner for our Tree House Together podcast, aimed at engaging 3-6 year olds in the world around them.
My daughter “T” has been an amazing adventure buddy from the start – being her mom has opened my eyes and widened my heart. She has so many questions and insights that she had to be a part of a podcast where we explore things about which we’re curious.
And my husband Noah has taken all of the photos of me that are not clearly selfies. Yay for moms getting in the picture too.
